An enthusiast of Mesozoic Era paleontology examines shales and limestones along a slope weathered in the upper Triassic section of the upper Triassic-lower Jurassic Gabbs Formation, Ammonite Canyon, Nevada. Here occur many varieties of ammonoids (Triassic ceratites types), in addition to colonial scleractinian corals and several species of gastropods and pelecypods roughly 205 to 202 million years ancient, deposited in what stratigraphers call the late Norian Stage through Rhaetian Stage of the late Triassic Period. |
