| Here is the trailhead to Hagen Canyon in Red Rock Canyon State Park, California. Hagen Canyon is a major tributary to Red Rock Canyon, proper, and offers to the visitor some of the most spectacular scenery in all the Red Rock district; the trail begins just west of Highway 14 along the road to Ricardo Campground. Here, geologically sculpted sedimentary rocks of the Middle Miocene Ricardo Group (roughly 10 million years old) are exposed in dramatic fashion below a volcanic basalt flow (the blackish rubble at top of image). |
