Coral Reef Canyon, Nevada

The approach to classic, world-famous Coral Reef Canyon transects glorious Great Basin Desert terrain. Strata directly ahead, along either side of the dirt trail, belong to the richly fossiliferous Upper Triassic Luning Formation, which was deposited in the early to middle portions of what biostratigraphers call the Norian Stage, roughly 216 to 210 million years ago.
